Tresemme has been around for ages and is undoubtedly one of the most popular shampoo brands. It is available in almost every aisle of every convenience store and all salons for an affordable rate. And if you look you will probably find a zillion Tresemme reviews out there.

Their shampoo is considered to be good for just about every hair type including dry, colored, natural, wet and oily hair. Tresemme shampoo supposedly can be a solution to all the hair problems. But how good is Tresemme really?

BOP is simple to use and super fun as well. You can bop on the platform while browsing the platform on your phone, laptop or even instantly in the supermarket for a quick glance before shopping. The idea is to make informed purchases and you will be truly surprised with what you find.

Zoobop gives you all the brand facts in one shot, I look at it as a fact checker. It calls out and questions the brand on your behalf. And what is cool is that you can see the entire range of possible nasties at a glance. This is an easy way to tell whether or not your brand is making false claims about its products. And for you to quickly check if the brand lives up to its claims. All you need to do is BOP!

An easy BOP on zoobop can tell you everything about this brand and if it lives up to the hype. With a simple check (BOP), you can get the entire dirt on your brand.

Each brand gets a clean (or dirty) score from 0-5 based on its clean and green footprint, honesty & transparency and brand ethos. The higher the score the better a brand is.

Another great benefit of bopping is you can use this to compare any two brands. You can check which brand is better and why quite easily. With the number of brands in the natural space these days it’s hard for most of us to actually ascertain if the brand is truly what it claims to be. As most brands walk and talk the same lingo. And trust me a lot of what they say is hog wash. Here is a third party which checks all these facts for you. What's more, if brands claim certifications, these are cross checked. And the information you get is always transparent and honest.

BOP by Zoobop.com is the world’s first brand checker that has revolutionized the way you shop.  BOP allows you to make informed purchases and potentially avoid harmful toxic ingredients so you can make better choices for yourself, your family and our planet.

Why You Should Care
The climate crisis is real and on the rise. It's important to consider what we consume and to consciously choose products that, for example, reduce our carbon footprint and that aren't harmful to people or the planet.

Tresemme Shampoo Reviews 2021
Based on Zoobop’s tresemme shampoo review, “Even though the brand is honest and cruelty free, the ingredients used are questionable and have both human and environment concerns.”

It scores 2.4 on the BOP meter which is “poor” on zoobop.

Zoobop score is from 0- 5
With 0 being terrible and 5 being excellent

    Why this score?
On zoobop, you can see how Tresemme performs on the following criteria:
  • Being Clean (formulation and ingredients)
  • Being Green (eco footprint )
  • Being honest (labelling transparency & supply chain)
  • Being Cruelty Free (their ‘against animal testing’ commitment)
It is quite clear that it is not CLEAN.
Their Shampoos contain DMDM Hydantoin, Imidazolidinyl Urea, both formaldehyde releasers. B.H.T, T.E.A, M.E.A, S.L.E.S, M.C.I, M.I.T, P.E.Gs, PPGs, Fragrance, Mica.

Since most people do not have a chemistry major, zoobop breaks this down for you. Any ingredient can be tapped to understand what it means in layman terms. For instance, DMDM Hydantoin, Imidazolidinyl Urea - are formaldehyde releasers. According to Safe Cosmetics Org, “Formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives (FRPs) are used in many personal care products, particularly in shampoos and liquid baby soaps. These chemicals, which help prevent microbes from growing in water-based products, can be absorbed through the skin and have been linked to cancer and allergic skin reactions”.

Similarly,
M.I.T - Methylisothiazolinone, also known as MI, is a widely used preservative in shampoo, creams, body

wash, baby lotions, shaving cream, make up remover and cosmetic products. Ingredient has been linked to lung toxicity, allergic reactions and possible neurotoxicity.

Mica - it is not clear if the brand uses synthetic or natural mica. Unilever does not give transparency in supply chain for this ingredient which can be illegally mined through child labour. 80% of the world’s natural mica comes from illegal mines in India. So, its important that the brands you purchase are free of child labour. Look out for Responsible Mica commitment. Something zoobop checks for brands amongst other fair trade practices.

Though it’s Parent brand; Unilever claims to be a responsible sourcer, the ingredients used in many products are not earth friendly.

For instance, BHT used in their shampoo - is a synthetic antioxidant and is used as preservative. A United Nations Environment Program assessment noted that B.H.T had a moderate to high potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic species. The David Suzuki Foundation, a leader in environment toxicology names BHT has a high eco toxin when released as grey waste.

Brand uses High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) bottles. It also claims that their packaging is 30% recycled plastic, it is also interesting to note that their aerosol bottles are not earth friendly and continue to be responsible for the contamination of the environment.

For some positive notes, the brand recently got cruelty free status which deserves some brownie points. Tresemme is PETA certified, and is committed to being a 100% cruelty free. However it should be noted, that their parent company, Unilever, does test on animals whenever required by law.

Zoobop has further noted that Tresemme is transparent and honest with their labelling. Which means they list all ingredients and do not hide this information from unsuspecting users.

For cleaner options, you can check better shampoos and conditioners on zoobop.com’s clean buying guide. All the brands and products recommended are free from dirty formulations and animal cruelty. Each brand is manually vetted for you to shop safe and guilt free.

Tresemme Shampoos Contain Sulphates - True Or False
ITS TRUE!
Tresemme shampoos contain SLES. Sulfates are always better avoided. Tap the ingredient on zoobop to understand why.

Our Thoughts On Tresemme Shampoo
Looking back at the Zoobop’s tresemme shampoo review, we are not a fan of the brand. It is NOT clean or green. The shampoo has ingredients that can, in turn, damage your hair in the long run.

What we think is that the brand should try to reformulate their products with better ingredients. It should also look into its packaging and the recycling policies. This way it can easily get a better score than before and of course, be safer for its consumers.
